“Reserve” Orders Shipping!

Yes, hologram film and kits have started shipping again! These are the first shipments from our new facility, and the first shipments since the massive office flooding at LitiHolo. If you have placed a “reserve” order, check your email for how to complete your order and payment, and get ready for your shipment.

If you want to place a new “reserve” order, you can order Hologram Film, our single-color Hologram Kits, and Upgrades by placing a $1 “reserve” now, and we anticipate deliveries for new orders to be about 2 weeks with our current schedule. But your “reserve” order now will put you into the order queue now and secure your spot in our delivery schedule.

Monday – Make a Hologram: Holographic Keypad with FLOATING NUMBERS!

This is a concept that originally we bounced around and played with during the start of Covid. Remember trying NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING?! But then having to enter your PIN for every credit card transaction, essentially “touching” EVERYONE ELSE who came before you! We thought holographic buttons floating out in front of the pinpad would give the proper visual cues to indicate where you should press, but without actually touching anything.

This is what we came up with, and it’s pretty cool! The numbers float about 1/2″ above the hologram film plate, and when you try to reach out and touch them, it looks like they’re really there (but they’re not). Hologram magic!

Monday – Make a Hologram: Hologram of a Ticking Watch – This Shouldn’t Work!

Some days in the hologram lab are interesting! It was a tiring and frustrating day, with all the electrical outlets in one of the labs going out and bringing post-flood rebuilding to a halt (electrician coming tomorrow). So we made some holograms!

If you are familiar with holograms, they are very sensitive to vibration. But we made a hologram of a ticking watch in motion! This shouldn’t work, but it did. And the results were very interesting!

Monday – Make a Hologram: Dice, Parallax and Security Features

As part of trying to push past our massive office flood at the end of last year, and trying to restart operations with our latest “Reserve a Hologram” process, we thought we’d have a little fun too. We’re calling it “Make a Hologram Monday” (and yes, it is Tuesday today, but our Monday project extended over a little bit!). We also call this “hologram therapy.”

Additionally, we will be trying a new “Hologram Humpday – Ask a Hologram Expert” where we will take your hologram questions, and have them answered by an MIT-trained holography expert (founder of LitiHolo, Paul Christie). Look for that soon.

But now let’s get back to making some holograms! A handful of dice, some holographic parallax, and suddenly you have the makings of an overt authentication feature sometimes called an Optically Variable Device, but more commonly called… a hologram.
